Idyllically situated on an old quay with sea views on three sides, On the Rocks, Gillan has a relaxed, contemporary, coastal feeling. It is located in the beautiful and unspoilt natural harbour of Gillan Creek, Helford. An Area of Outstanding Beauty where cormorants, egrets and swans can be seen year round alongside the odd seal and sailing dinghies afloat in the summer months.
Living Room
Large, high ceilinged and light with whitewashed original floorboards, this stylish room enjoys spectacular views over the sea to the east. Open the french windows onto the east facing terrace to enjoy the sound of waves lapping, relax in front of the wood burning stove on a cold and stormy night or watch a movie on the smart TV with the kids. Classic, contemporary furnishings give a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.
Secondary Sitting Room
When the teenagers need their own space or the little ones need a place to play or watch a movie, this snug with curved screen Samsung smart TV provides the perfect comfortable relaxed environment.
Kitchen
A very large and welcoming kitchen with a 4 door, Cornish Blue Aga at it’s heart provides a wonderful cooking space that caters well to large groups. The granite topped island gives ample prep space and guests can enjoy a large American style freezer, second fridge freezer separate drinks fridge, Nespresso machine and two dishwashers as well as other appliances and culinary gadgets.
Dining Room
Directly off the kitchen, the dining room has folding glass doors on two sides which can be fully opened to provide a covered ‘al fresco’ dining experience.
Utility Room
Washing machine and dryer can be found here alongside cleaning and ironing equipment. There is a shower for those who have just walked up the private steps after swimming in the sea or taken a dip in the jacuzzi. A hanging area for wetsuits and outdoor gear can also be found here.
Bedrooms
There are six bedrooms each with their own unique character. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with a super king bed and a large terrace reached through double folding sliding doors. The room and terrace enjoy amazing sea views to the east and over the creek to the church and small hamlet of Anthony. There is an en-suite bathroom with a double ended bath tub and waterfall Hans Grohe shower. Along the corridor can be found two twin bedrooms which share an ensuite bathroom with large shower. This is a useful configuration for a family with young children. On the ground floor there is a spacious secondary master bedroom with a super king bed and an ensuite bathroom with a freestanding tub and a large shower. Two other airy bedrooms are on the ground floor which can both provide either two twin beds or a king size (zip and link) bed. These bedrooms share a spacious bathroom with shower which is ‘ensuite’ to one of the bedrooms and has a secondary entrance for the other bedroom.
Outside
Outside there is a small garden enjoying far-reaching sea views, a jacuzzi (April-September), dining terrace and posts to string up two hammocks. Steps lead down to the sea on the west and east side of the property with the eastern steps leading to a small beach outside of high tide. Since the property owns the Sandy spit to the west of the property small sailing dinghies and kayaks can be kept here during your stay. The property is located on the coastal footpath providing direct access to a large number of varied walks. Please note that the car parking area is an approx 50 metre footpath walk to the house.
